Our Why |
Our children are part of a digital native generation with many conveniences at their fingertips. Their lives are filled with entertainment and edutainment delivered on digital device anytime, anywhere - they spend more time sitting or staying in one position more than ever before. At the same time childhood obesity is on the rise in many countries. The World Health Organization describes it as “the most serious public health challenges of the 21st century”. It is our responsibility as parents to help our children develop healthy habits from a young age. The best way to do that is to develop those habits ourselves. Children learn from what we do, not what we say. If we move, they will move. Parents can cultivate healthy posture awareness and movement habits together with their kids that last a lifetime.

Our Goal |
At Play It Fit, we address both the emotional and physical pains with programs that include education, mindset and play.
1. Education - We help parents and children become aware of their current posture and habitual movement patterns. We teach them basic anatomy and Pilates-based movement and equip them with exercises they can easily do on their own. 2. Mindset - We ask parents to think of exercise as movement integration. For example, instead of carving out a big chuck of time, which is difficult to do with young children, we train parents to take a 5 minutes movement break several times a day. It's a 'work it in' mentality. For children, we give them the know-how to monitor their own posture (sitting and standing), change positions often (even when doing homework or studying), and take brain breaks – 1-5 minutes movement breaks – in between all their academic and enrichment activities. 3. Play - We encourage and teach parents how to perform exercises with or around their children so they can ‘work it in’. They can play and bond with their children while being a role model for a moving body. With children, play comes naturally, and we give them the foundation to continue playing and moving, even as they get older. |
